Premature ejaculation is a problem many men will have to deal with throughout their sexual lives, whether it’s related to decreasing hormone levels or an underlying medical condition.

It is a problem that most people learn to control as they get more sexual experience, but that doesn't give much comfort to those who find that the race is over before it has even started. While there are some pharmacological remedies to the problem, exercise for premature ejaculation can help you have a more fulfilling sex life.

Kegels for Premature Ejaculation

Learn to control your ejaculation by doing an exercise called the Kegel. Named after Dr. Arnold Kegel, this exercise helps your pubococcygeus, or PC, muscle get stronger. The PC muscle goes from the pubic bone to the tailbone along the floor of pelvic cavity. To strengthen this muscle, you can squeeze the PC muscle. You can do this by restricting your urine flow. Stop in midstream and then relax the muscle to allow the urine to flow. That is the PC muscle.

You can squeeze this muscle at various times to strengthen it, not just during the urination process. For premature ejaculation, perform Kegels for 10 to 20 repetitions, three to four times per day.

Exercise for Premature Ejaculation

You probably don’t regularly consider doing a penis workout. However, masturbation can help you to gain more control over your PC muscle. Don’t bring yourself to completion of the act. Continue the process until you feel like your ejaculation muscles are about to contract. Stop at that point. Do not continue with the act until you feel like you will not ejaculate. Then continue but keep yourself from ejaculating. Once you can do this by yourself, you have a better chance of delaying your orgasm with a partner.

Pause-Squeeze Technique

Grasp your penis about a half-inch below the head and hold it firmly for several seconds when you feel you are about to ejaculate. Hold until the feeling subsides. This can be extremely uncomfortable and is akin to putting a clamp on a garden hose. However, it can be an effective way of learning to control your premature ejaculation.

Other Tips for Premature Ejaculation

In addition to exercise, other interventions might help prevent premature ejaculation. For example, using a condom helps decrease sensitivity during sex. In fact, some condoms have climax control features, with thicker latex and numbing agents. Topical anesthetics can also be used to address this problem, according to Mayo Clinic.

See a Doctor

Prescription medications are sometimes given to help with premature ejaculation. Medications, such as antidepressants, some pain relievers and drugs for erectile dysfunction, can also help delay orgasm. A doctor might also suggest psychological support as part of your premature ejaculation training. Sexual dysfunction can cause stress in a relationship, particularly if you feel ashamed or angry. Mayo Clinic says that talking about your problem is an important part of the solution. Treatment can include sex therapy and/or couples counseling.
